Wanted: .NET Umbraco Developer

.NET Umbraco Developer needed for an enthusiastic, hard-working agency with an unhealthy obsession for all things web. You must have a passion and drive for creating successful websites and apps for the real, commercial world that make a difference to our clients.

Working across a range of projects and a diverse customer base, the role will involve working closely with our Support Manager and Design & Build Team.

You’ll have plenty of opportunities to take on projects and development of websites and apps to keep your skills sharp and continue to learn.

You will develop and maintain web applications with solid and scalable architecture primarily using Umbraco CMS and help to identify and implement fixes for any technical issues that may arise with our range of live sites and apps.

The Role

You enjoy working under your own initiative, managing your own time and working to deadlines. You will also be a patient communicator who can bridge the gap between ‘techie’ and ‘non-techie’ - especially under pressure. Requirements for the role include:

  • Minimum of 3 years web development
  • Experience developing with and extending Umbraco CMS
  • Provide support for all websites and applications we built - written with C#, JavaScript and SQL
  • Manage Windows Servers - security, storage, backups, SSL certificates, FTP
  • Deploy websites to our test and live environments, using IIS and/or Apache
  • You must be familiar with Git and SVN
  • Experience in writing reusable code and components
  • Strong knowledge of .NET 4.0, C#
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server and MySQL
  • Assist with gathering of requirements and creating timescales
  • Ability to discuss user requirements clearly
  • Experience using XML, XSLT, XPATH etc.
  • Experience in industry best practices
  • Strong interest in future of web development

Desirable Skills

Other skills that are not required but would be an advantage:

  • A degree in software engineering, computer science or a related subject
  • Experience with front-end languages and frameworks: CSS, Less, Bootstrap
  • Good knowledge of W3C web standards, Semantic Markup
  • Knowledge of Blog/Content Management Systems like WordPress and Umbraco
  • Experience with 3rd party API’s - data feeds, payment providers, etc
